Is Networking Built into Your Business Plan?

So, what's your networking strategy? Networking goes beyond exchanging contact info or connecting on social media; it's about building meaningful relationships that can lead to opportunities, collaborations, and mutual support. Networking is such a powerful tool for advancing your business that should be built into every sound business plan. Let's talk about how & where to network in the Greater Cincinnati real estate scene.

Like any good tool, networking takes time to hone. To develop an effective networking strategy, consider starting with clear objectives.

Ask yourself:

  • What do you hope to achieve through networking?

  • Are you looking to expand your professional circle, seek mentorship, or explore new deal opportunities?

  • How much time to do you have to spend on networking? Set reasonable goals for the time you can dedicate to events. Make an effort to network throughout your workday.

  • What can you give back to your network? Experience, skills, connections, a listening ear are all valuable contributions to your network.

Understanding your goals will guide you in choosing the right platforms and events for networking. The Greater Cincinnati Area has many opportunities to meet others in all avenues of the real estate industry. Attend industry conferences, workshops, meet ups and seminars, where you can meet like-minded professionals. Below are some examples of active real estate groups in our community.

Moreover, remember that networking is a two-way street. It's essential to not only seek help and opportunities but also to offer your support and resources to others. Building a reputation as someone who is willing to help can lead to stronger, more reciprocal relationships.

In-Person RE Networking Opportunities:

Social media platforms can also be invaluable for connecting with others in the field. You can make social media relationships more impactful by actively engaging in discussions, sharing relevant content, and reaching out directly to individuals whose work you admire.

Finally, follow up and maintain your connections. After meeting someone new, send a personalized message thanking them for their time and perhaps referencing a topic you discussed. Regular check-ins can help keep the relationship alive and may lead to future collaborations or opportunities. In summary, a successful networking strategy involves setting clear goals, engaging in meaningful interactions, and nurturing relationships over time. By approaching networking with intention and authenticity, you can create a robust network that supports your career aspirations and personal growth.

Our Loan Consultant Remo, along with a handful of other trusted financing specialists, had the pleasure of sitting on a panel for REIAGC's September networking event. The topic was "Fund My Deal". Investors came to the mic to get feedback from the panel about actual deals they are looking to fund. The deals came in a wide range, but the hot topic for the evening quickly became new construction in both the residential and commercial sector. This panel was full of knowledge, recommendations and sources for funding deals. There was so much to learn and so many paths introduced!
