It is exciting to finance local deals and watch them gain life in our vibrant community of Wyoming. Each project we support, from small business openings to home restoration projects, contributes to the economic growth of the area and enhances the cultural fabric that makes The City of Wyoming so unique. As Wyoming’s only community bank, we get to collaborate in the community’s dedication to restoring and preserving Wyoming history while simultaneously creating a new thriving future. Gaining the trust of the citizens is a badge of honor that signifies our shared values.
In this edition of Pro Tips from the Property Flippers, we share with you a handful of recent Wyoming projects financed by Spring Valley Bank that breathe new life into various commercial and residential areas of our tightknit community.
Repurposing for Commercial Use: The Work+Shop
Located at 432 Springfield Pike, this 1896 Victorian was formerly a residence located between Wyoming Community Coffee and The Wyoming Board of Education. Now owner Sara Aschliman partnered with Spring Valley Bank to transform this gem into an elegant building ready for community events, workspaces & creativity.
My favorite architectural change to this Victorian is the wraparound porch to the left side of the front door. It makes the space so inviting and seamlessly fits into the original construction. A good front porch truly embodies the essence of “Welcome.”
To further highlight the natural character of the property, Sara chose dark window trim, accents and light fixtures to contrast the siding drawing your eyes to the details. The mix of shaker style and traditional siding add lovely texture to complete the renovation.
A job well done on restoring and repurposing this beautiful Victorian.
What exactly is The Work+Shop?

Living in Wyoming: 265 Elm Ave
This charming owner-occupied craftsman was built in 1922. The new owners are making some beautiful and strategic decisions when it comes to enhancing this wonderful corner lot.
The first change you notice is the exterior color. Sticking with the current trend of contrasting colors to define details, the owners chose Rosemary for the siding and bright white for the trim work. This contrast immediately draws your attention to the reconstructed columns on the front porch that further emphasize the arched porch ceiling. That curve adds so much dimension to the front of the house. The extension of the dormer, altered roof line, natural wood colored soffits and the elimination of the chimneys create a cleaner and more modern look while maintaining the originally intended feel.
The pièce de résistance for me is the addition of the rear deck! The alcove was a perfect spot to add outdoor living space. I can only imagine the amount of time these owners will spend outside enjoying their quiet treelined street.
A Simply Sophisticated Flip: 1312 Stonemill Ct
This desirable ranch on a classic Wyoming Street received a total renovation from our borrower. The exterior renovation focused on clean and sophisticated lines. A new roof, removal of shutters, stark white accent paint, new driveway, brush removal and a beautiful front door creates lovely curb appeal that fits with the character of the street.
The simple sophisticated color palate continues on the interior creating the illusion of higher ceilings and larger spaces. The borrower’s use of metal and wood finishes, further amplified by the staging, is a more recent design trend that I think is here to stay. This is such a beautifully finished home perfect for all generations.

A Flip Designed for a Buyer’s Personal Touch: 1421 Maple Ave
The borrower on this project delivered brand new everything on this low maintenance ranch. He crafted a clean canvas designed to complement a range of personal touches from its new owner. The warm color palate can easily be dressed up and delivers an oh so clean presentation.
We see another addition of outdoor space on this project with the incorporation of a functional front porch adding more usable space to this 2 bedroom 1 bathroom home.
